As the largest alternative school in Arizona, Primavera serves thousands of students who come to our school at risk of dropping out. In fact, almost 20% of our students are between 18 and 21, work full time, are working mothers and fathers, or are the principle breadwinners for their families. We care about these students and work hard to give them the flexibility, access, and tools they need to succeed.

Primavera also tests more students than ANY other alternative school in Arizona. And that matters because, as an alternative school, testing more at-risk kids has an impact on overall outcomes.

Despite these inherent challenges, when compared against other large alternative schools as defined by the ADE, Primavera Online comes out on top.

Primavera’s AzMERIT scores are continually improving and far exceed those of other Arizona alternative schools. In fact they are almost on par with the state-wide average for all Arizona schools.

This is notable, considering more than 70% of Primavera’s full-time students are alternative and at high risk of not graduating.

As you can see, Primavera’s AzMERIT scores outperformed the 10 largest alternative schools – all while testing more kids than any other alternative school, based on number of AzMERIT tests given (see table below). Against all 155 alternative schools both large and small, Primavera was 6th in ELA and 13th in Math.
